Decision fatigue -

Scientific research

  • Breakfast
Amazon?

આપણે રોજ-બ-રોજના robotic schedule માં કેદ થઈ ગયા છીએ and by the time we are supposed to make those decisions, we are mentally tired.

    🧐 Decision Fatigue

    6) Clutter (વસ્તુઓ, files, apps, notifications etc)
    10) FOMO (Fear of Missing Out)

So basically, information & options overload is the biggest reason.

So we can deal better with the unknown.

    💡 Decision Fatigue

    Capsule or Planned Wardrobe: Smart wardrobe planning
(Very tough for many! but the best help to the brain)

Regular decluttering of things you don't use. જયારે આપણી આજુબાજુ clutter જોઈએ છીએ ત્યારે brain confused state માં જતું રહે છે. i.e: Bedroom, office desk or Kitchen store room માં વસ્તુઓ જાણે કે એકબીજાને પપ્પી કરતી હોય તેમ ચીપકીને પડી હોય!

Read more about how living with minimalism & de-cluttering helps with mental clarity in my blog -

    - Selection Filter:

Remember: More tools ≠ More productivity.

    5) અત્યારે શું કરું? 😵
    - Fixed Routine: ઘણી વાર કામ કરતાં કરતાં થાક નથી લાગતો, પણ શું કરવું એ નક્કી કરવામાં થાકી જઈએ છીએ.

    સવારે ઉઠ્યા પછી, office પહોંચ્યા પછી કે weekend પર — જો દરેક વખતે "હવે શું?" પૂછવું પડે તો decision fatigue વધે છે. એના બદલે થોડા fixed routines બનાવી શકાય. જેમ કે;

    - 30 મિનિટ નો morning routine
    - 2 hours weekend cleaning/de-cluttering routine
    - 1 hour weekend pending to-dos routine
    - 30 mins night time routine before sleeping
    - 1 hour skill upgrade routine

    વગેરે...

    રોજ વિચારવામાં energy નાખવા કરતા એક વાર શાંતિથી બેસીને આવા routines નક્કી કરવા વધારે સારા. Routines નો સૌથી મોટો ફાયદો એ છે કે brain ને દર વખતે નવી પસંદગી કરવાની જરૂર નથી પડતી.

    6) આ રાખવું કે કાઢી નાખવું? 📦🙆‍♂️
    - One In, One Out Rule: ઘણી વાર decision fatigue નું કારણ નવી વસ્તુઓ નહીં, પણ જૂની વસ્તુઓ હોય છે.

    નવા કપડાં આવે, gadgets આવે, kitchen items આવે... પણ જૂનું કશું બહાર જતું નથી. દરેક વસ્તુ સાથે future decisions જોડાયેલા હોય છે:

    - ક્યાં મૂકવી?
    - ક્યારે વાપરવી?
    - સાચવવી કે નહીં?
    - Maintenance કોણ કરશે?

    શક્ય હોય ત્યારે એક નિયમ બનાવી શકાય > "ઘરમાં એક નવી વસ્તુ આવે તો એક જૂની વસ્તુ બહાર જાય."

    આ નિયમ clutter ને પણ ઓછું કરે અને future decisions ને પણ.

    7) આ મેસેજનો જવાબ અત્યારે આપું કે પછી? 📱
    - Notification Management: પણા દિવસના સૌથી વધારે decisions ઘણી વાર notifications કરાવે છે. દરેક notification essentially પૂછે છે: "મારી તરફ ધ્યાન આપશો?"

WhatsApp, YouTube, Email, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, News Alerts.... what not!

Keep only those accounts that genuinely add value. Less noise in your phone; less noise in your mind.

    which mobile?
    which course?
    which book?
    which investment?
    which restaurant?

By the time they decide — someone else has already moved ahead. The worst decision makers ever!!

Movement creates activity. Decisions create progress.

    CONCLUSION

I have seen people living this lifestyle are much better decision makers & great problem-solvers.

    1. I never run out of work, so I need to find some time for myself. Finding "Me-Time" leads to work pile-ups, which then motivates to do more work. Doing more work then motivates me to find me-time. That's a cycle.

      1. That's a very relatable cycle. 😊 Happens with me too! For me, though, ticking off piled-up tasks gives my brain a little dopamine boost. So as long as we're finding joy and satisfaction in making progress... not just staying busy, I think it's perfectly okay, Truth Haven Ji!!

        and yes I have seen people who wears "White & White" always..

    5. Very Helpful and beautifully explained,
      Thank you for sharing it

      1. Mental energy

Right bhoomi?

      2. Dear Vrunda, explained so beautifully. 100% agree with you.

Keep writing bhumi. you have very unique style of showing facts in light humorous way. I agree that more options always confuse our brain but why many time we are not able to discard unused items? it's very hard for me to let go of old unused items. any tips?

Agree, letting go of things feel tough for many but with regular practice of living with minimum options, once you start seeing benefits on your overall life, it would be much easier. All the best!
